Story of Goreth
Goreth was inspired to start her journey towards creating something meaningful within her community after witnessing the pain experienced by those who had lost their parents, especially during the difficult period of bereavement and beyond. She refused to stand by and watch as people struggled to cope with the loss of their loved ones, and she was determined to make a difference.
She firmly believed that "Once you lose what you have loved, you are obligated to love what is left," recognizing the profound impact of parental loss on individuals. The sudden responsibility thrust upon children who had never been prepared for life without their parents was a stark reality that Goreth could not ignore. She understood the importance of parental guidance and support, and the void that was left in the lives of those who had lost their parents.
Goreth was deeply moved by the stories of older individuals blaming themselves for not having grown up with their parents, and she recognized the need for a support system to help them rebuild their sense of hope and family. She saw the valuable role that foster parents played in providing care and guidance to orphaned children, but understood that they too needed support in their efforts.
Determined to make a difference, Goreth was eager to step in and assist foster parents in fostering hope and resilience in orphaned children who felt lost and overwhelmed by their circumstances. She believed that the community had a responsibility to support and nurture these children, helping them to build a brighter future for themselves.
Goreth's vision for ReFAN was one of unity, compassion, and empowerment. She understood the importance of coming together as a community to support those in need, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. She believed that with unity and determination, anything was possible, and she encouraged others to join her in her mission to create a better future for orphaned children.
As Goreth embarked on her journey, she was guided by the belief that there was always hope, even in the face of adversity. She knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but she was committed to fighting against the mindset that life was over for those who had lost their parents. She believed in the power of community and the strength of individuals working together towards a common goal.
Goreth's dream was to create a community where unity and compassion prevailed, where individuals could come together to support one another and build a brighter future for the next generation. She believed that by standing together and believing in themselves, the community could overcome any challenge and pave the way for a better tomorrow.

Story of Mr. Felix
Mr. Felix has a profound insight into the thoughts of Goreth, stating, "Without thinking further, the further itself will mean nothing." He is convinced by Goreth's plan, as a Refugee himself, acknowledging that teen mothers and young girls are among the most vulnerable in society. These individuals often withdraw from school due to a lack of support, leading them to engage in early marriages.
Felix believes that ReFAN is a dream worth pursuing, noting that there is often a hidden struggle behind every smile. He emphasizes the importance of parental support, highlighting the challenges faced by orphaned children who lack the guidance and protection of their parents.
According to Felix, ReFAN represents hope for those who have lost their parents and find themselves in difficult circumstances. He acknowledges the complexities of refugee life, where challenges abound and support is often lacking.
Felix advocates for the support of children in refugee communities, particularly in terms of education and personal growth. He is wary of organizations that claim to help but may not always deliver on their promises.
Despite the difficulties of overcoming grief and moving forward, Felix believes that ReFAN can provide a sense of hope and companionship for those in need. He stresses the importance of walking alongside others as they navigate through their struggles.
Felix acknowledges the reluctance of some individuals to actively participate in programs like ReFAN, noting that people must take responsibility for their own lives and futures. He urges the refugee community to come together and support one another, particularly in caring for the well-being of their children.
In conclusion, Felix emphasizes the need for individuals to take proactive steps in shaping their own destinies, rather than relying solely on external assistance. He believes that by coming together and supporting one another, the community can overcome challenges and build a brighter future for all.

Story of Cedrick
Cedrick views the project as massive and unique, stating, "A helpful response always comes after all discussions." He wholeheartedly supports the project and, as a young boy in ReFAN, he deeply understands the challenges faced by those who have lost their parents. Cedrick emphasizes the importance of coming together as a community to provide support and assistance to those in need during times of grief and bereavement.
Having grasped the concept that "If you can't manage it, someone can," Cedrick underscores the necessity for collective action in making ReFAN successful. He believes that living without insight is a form of disability, pointing out the critical need to consider the well-being of future generations and the impact of our actions on our children once we are no longer present.
Cedrick sheds light on the struggles faced by young people like himself, particularly in terms of education and the challenges that arise from a lack of support. He sees ReFAN as a crucial foundation for combating loneliness and the hardships stemming from parental loss. Cedrick is particularly concerned about young boys resorting to early marriages in search of companionship, and he recognizes ReFAN's role in providing counseling and support during and after times of loss.
Cedrick's heartfelt plea to the community underscores the importance of leaving a legacy that benefits future generations. He encourages young people to recognize the significance of supporting initiatives like ReFAN, which aim to address the challenges faced by orphaned children and promote a sense of togetherness within the community.
In conclusion, Cedrick's message resonates with a call to action for all individuals to understand and empathize with the struggles faced by refugees, especially in the context of parental loss. He advocates for collective support of ReFAN's mission, emphasizing the importance of unity and compassion in building a brighter future for all. As reiterated by ReFAN Secretary Lydia Igitaneza, Cedrick's story serves as a poignant reminder of the power of community and collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals.

Story of Lydia
"I am honored to be a part of ReFAN," Lydia articulated with pride. As a young lady within the ReFAN community, I hold a deep affection for the organization and am fervently dedicated to spreading awareness of the invaluable work being done. Encouraging participation from others is crucial as we strive to equip the next generation with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate life's uncertainties.
The adage, "If you can't buy a coat before winter, make sure you're ready to buy it expensively during winter," serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of preparedness. Reflecting on the struggles faced by single mothers during bereavement, the cultural challenges encountered, and the distressing reality of resorting to drastic measures to repay loans vividly emphasizes the urgent need addressed by ReFAN.
In my heartfelt plea, I underscore the profound loneliness and despair experienced by many refugees, often feeling that their future holds no promise. The critical mission of ReFAN is to instil hope and support, particularly during and after periods of bereavement, fostering unity and compassion within the refugee community. Life's trajectory hinges on the breaths we take and the steps we choose to make. It is imperative to navigate these pathways with honesty and integrity, acknowledging that every decision shapes our future. The struggles of widows and their children illuminate the necessity of planning for life beyond one's current circumstances, a significant focus of ReFAN's mission.
ReFAN's advocacy is essential in addressing the challenges faced by children who struggle to excel academically despite receiving support. Providing opportunities for job creation and offering startup funding for widows ensures continued support in navigating the complexity of life post-bereavement.
With a firm call to action, I implore those with generous hearts to lend their financial and physical support to bolster ReFAN's initiatives. Founded by refugees themselves, the organization is in dire need of resources to extend its reach and impact, offering solace and assistance to those in need.
ReFAN's ethos of inclusivity, devoid of religious or political bias, speaks volumes about the unity it fosters in times of adversity. It is through collaborative efforts that we can uplift those facing bereavement and offer a brighter future. As we envision the growth and success of ReFAN, I am heartened by the resilience and determination of the refugee community, exemplifying how even the smallest acts of faith can spark significant change.
Gratefully acknowledging the visionary leadership of Goreth and the unwavering dedication of all involved in ReFAN, I remain committed to the cause, driven by the belief that together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Story of Wagstan
Wagstan looked around and said, "Not every time 'why' makes sense!" How can we dare to ask life 'why'? Is there any reason to seek justification for the situations we face by using 'why'? Neutrally, there may be scenarios in which we use 'why' to ask every question instead of truly understanding the situation. One of my teachers in primary school once said that people don't fail exams because they weren't in class, but because they can't understand the language used in the questions.
Now, when it comes to Wagstan, ReFAN is a home that is fully closed off, prohibiting the opportunity to ask 'why' in every situation as it focuses on responses based on acceptance within Bereavement. So, why do we suffer during and after Bereavement? Wagstan said that we're not failing with grief because we weren't prepared, but rather we find ourselves in hardship due to a lack of understanding that our today must continue. Wagstan emphasized that we cannot live with a mindset that insists everything is our right without acknowledging the merciful services provided to us by others. There are numerous services we do not deserve, yet are generously given to us as a way to encourage us to create a more compassionate society. This is the message that Goreth has for all Refugees through the work being done in ReFAN.
Wagstan also serves as a motivator, believing that within ReFAN, there is hope for the next generation. He reflected on the fact that as children, we often wonder who we will become when we grow up, but few consider how the lives of those left behind after our passing will continue. This lack of consideration is evident in the community, where many refrain from supporting others or attending funerals during and after Bereavement. However, ReFAN offers a lifeline for those left behind, providing care and support for orphaned children, widows in need, and individuals struggling with the aftermath of loss.
One of the key questions raised by Wagstan is, who will take care of our children and partners once we pass on? The answer is simple: it is up to us to entrust ReFAN to care for our loved ones. ReFAN relies on the support of the community to look after the vulnerable, ensuring that no one is left behind in times of need. Refugees face uncertainty about their futures, often feeling nameless, voiceless, and powerless. However, through ReFAN, they have the opportunity to build a better life for themselves and their communities, supporting one another and creating positive change.
ReFAN aims to bring dignity and respect to those who have passed within the refugee community, honoring their families, cultures, and beliefs. The organization seeks to remind people of the importance of resilience, self-reliance, and unity. It calls on individuals to join in the effort to support refugees and make a difference in their lives and the lives of those around them. As Goreth emphasized in her presentation, ReFAN is not tied to any specific beliefs or political agendas, but rather focuses on helping people and remaining true to its mission.
You are invited to join ReFAN and make a difference in the lives of refugees, supporting orphaned children, widows, and those in need. Your contribution, not matter how small, can have a significant impact on the community. Together, we can overcome the challenges faced by refugees during and after Bereavement, creating a brighter future for all. Remember, everyone has the power to bring about change - what about ReFAN? ReFAN puts faith in you to help make a difference in the lives of others.
